MID-CITY—The Mid City Neighborhood Council (MINC) voted during last month’s regular meeting to write a letter in support for a proposed Metro bike path that would run along Ballona Creek through the Mid City area.

The path would be near Venice Boulevard and Cochran Avenue and would “stand alone” not connecting with the rest of the existing Ballona Creek path, mind which runs from Syd Kronenthal Park in east Culver City to the Coast Bike Path.

The neighborhood council is asking for conditions however, cost including that the path to be well lit; that it have a beautification plan and vagrancy and loitering controls.

The proposed path would work in correlation with a larger plan that’s being laid in the Mid City neighborhood, said MINC Planning and Land Use Chair Bruce Durbin.  An additional bike path could end up being an important economical attribute to the neighborhood, he said.
